About The Georgia Statistics...

These statistics are compiled from information obtained from the Georgia Bureau of Vital Statistics, Atlanta, Georgia, as supplied on death certificates filed with the Bureau. The Bureau of Vital Statistics does not close out each calendar year's statistics until June 30 of the following year. So that means that the report for Georgia can not be produced until after that time. The normal publication date is August 15 each year.

The following categories of disposition are included for Georgia:

Burial - includes inground burial and entombment in a mausoleum.

Cremation - includes cremation by both direct and indirect heat.

Removal - includes all cases where body was removed from state for final disposition.

Other - Any other type of disposition not included in the types above such as: "blank" entries, "disinterments", "anatomical donation", "donation", "med school", "dissection", "storage", "sea burial", or any other entry not listed above.
