About The Florida Statistics...

These statistics are compiled from information obtained from the monthly embalmers/bodies handled affidavits filed by funeral homes, monthly crematory reports, and monthly direct disposer reports filed with the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers for Florida. These reports are required by law to be filed with the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers in Tallahassee, Florida.

The following categories of disposition are included for Florida:

Burial - includes "burial", "ship-in", "ship-in/burial", "direct burial", "direct interment", and "interment"

Cremation - includes cremation by both direct and indirect heat, "cremation", "calcination","cremated", "ship-in/cremate", or any other entry which indicates the disposition in Florida was cremation.

Removal - includes all cases where body was removed from state for final disposition. "Removal", "ship-out", "shipped", "transit", "removal/burial", removal/cremation", "removal/entomb".

Entombment - includes "entombment", "mausoleum", "entombed", or similar entries.

Other - Any other type of disposition not included in the types above such as: "blank" entries, "disinterments", "anatomical donation", "donation", "med school", "dissection", "storage", or any other entry which was so badly misspelled that we could not discern what the actual disposition was in the State of Florida.
